BOYS WILL BE BOYS

They probably get this all the time, but is it Boys Like Girls, as in boys who admire girls? Or boys who are similar to girls? Whatever the case, the Bostonian pop-emo punk rockers are scheduled to play Pipeline Café at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

With a fan base of mostly tweens and teens, it's a good thing that the band's one-night-only Pipeline show is an all-ages event. That means everyone can go (yes, everyone — there were grade schoolers at the recent, all-ages MGMT show) provided anyone under 16 arrive with a chaperone. Note to parents: Pipeline has upgraded its lounge, so you can wait for the mayhem to be over in an uncrowded, air-conditioned space.

Boys Like Girls just completed their second album, "Love Drunk," due out in September.

Boys Like Girls / 7 p.m. Tuesday / Pipeline Café / $27; $45 VIP / www.ticketmaster.com, 877-750-4400 / All ages

DIPLO-MATIC

Philadelphia-based DJ Diplo will be at NextDoor at 8:30 tonight ($20 cover). You know him from his work with M.I.A. — he's responsible for the beats on "Paper Planes." He's also remixed everyone from Radiohead to Kanye West.

LIVING LEGACY

Celebrate 20 years of Chinese dance in Hawai'i with "Legacy of the Phoenix," a Chinese dance showcase at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Hawai'i Theatre ($19-$29, 528-0506).

THE MUSIC OF THE MOUSE

Brush up on Modest Mouse tunes before the band plays Pipeline Café Sept. 9 with the group's latest release: an eight-track EP of B-sides and previously unreleased material. The album, titled "No One's First and You're Next" will be released Tuesday.

CHEAP DRINKS!

Top of Waikiki now offers a happy hour from 5 to 7 nightly in the revolving restaurant's dining room that includes discounted pupu specials, as well as cheap drinks. Get Grey Goose martinis, draft beers and house wine by the glass, all for $4. 923-3877.

IT'S THE '70S, BABY!

The '70s Nightclub Reunion show returns 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ala Moana Hotel ($45, 944-4330), with back-in-the-day acts Greenwood, Power Point, Glass Candle, Natural High, left, and Asian Blend.

LIKE THEY DO DOWN SOUTH

This month's edition of ARTafterDARK is all about Southern Comfort, y'all.

ARTafterDARK: "Southern Comfort" / Honolulu Academy of Arts / 6 tonight / $10

HUMOR THEM

For the first time, Adam Sandler joins the Judd Apatow comedy team for a more serious (but still funny, we're sure) film about a friendless and ailing standup comic (Sandler) and his more likable but less funny sidekick (Seth Rogen). "Funny People" opens today.
