Hawaiian music contest coming to Hawaii Theatre
Ka Himeni Ana 2009, a contest featuring undiscovered Hawaiian musicians performing unplugged and without microphones, is coming to the Hawaii Theatre this fall.
Presented by the Hawaiian Music Hall Of Fame, the 25th annual contest begins at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 5. Pre-show entertainment begins at 7 p.m.
Singer Marlene Sai will be the emcee; judges will be Haunani Apoliona, Nina Kealiiwahamana and Bill Kaiwa.
Keauhou will open the show with its 2008 winning performance. Ka Himeni Ana 2009 is dedicated to Nola Nahulu.
