The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific will be closed to the public from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday while the Emperor and Empress of Japan visit to honor Americans who died in war.
The ceremony will not be open to the public either.
“That is for safety and security reasons only,” said Gene Castagnetti, cemetery director.
The last time the cemetery closed was in July 2007, when South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun paid a visit to honor veterans.
