“Da Mayah” returns to Kumu Kahua

Kumu Kahua's “Da Mayah” is back for a limited run.
Written by Lee Cataluna and directed by R. Kevin Garcia Doyle, the play follows Lester Perez, a new mayor who gets into all sorts of trouble and needs to be bailed out by his mistress Sandralene.
But everything goes whack as Lester’s childhood friend Derek blackmails him and it’s up to Sandy and her gangster cousin Dukie to manage the chaos.
Assassination attempts, betrayals and bad plate lunches will tattoo new ideas to what you know about the political world — and tickle your funny bone along the way.
“Da Mayah” runs July 9-26 at 8 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. General admission ranges between $5 to $16 at the Kuma Kahua Theater on Merchant Street.
