High surf advisory in effect for east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect for east-facing shores on Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island.

Surf along those shores is expected to be 5 to 8 feet today.

The advisory is expected to continue through 6 p.m. today.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, look for surf of 1 to 3 feet along west-facing shores, 3 to 5 feet along north-facing shores and 1 to 2 feet along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Wednesday, Feb. 4: The short-period, east swell is expected to produce surf heights near the high surf advisory threshold of 8 feet along east-facing shores throughout the day.

Small northwest swells will continue through this weekend.

The next large northwest swell is expected to arrive Monday, with surf heights approaching the high surf advisory thresholds along north- and west-facing shores late Monday night and Tuesday.
