The Department of Land and Natural Resources has reopened vehicle access on the Kula State Forest Reserve Access Road from an area adjacent to the "cement crossing" to Polipoli State Park and beyond.

The road was closed Jan. 2 due to unsafe conditions caused by heavy rains. Since then, milder weather enabled state forestry crews to use heavy equipment to remove dirt on the road and fill in washed-out areas.

Although road conditions have improved, it's still muddy and access remains restricted to four-wheel-drive vehicles only.
