You can start with making sure your child has a Keiki ID, which includes basic information, a recent photo and a fingerprint. Statistics show that if you can get this information out to the public within the first three hours a child goes missing, the chances of recovery are more likely. Having a current ID handy speeds the process.

The Honolulu Police Department is sponsoring a free Keiki ID event today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kahala Mall's center court, in front of Jamba Juice.
