TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Flashpoint" season opener, 8 p.m., CBS. This show was one of the few blessings of last season's strike. CBS took a chance on a Canadian series and was rewarded with a smart thriller about decent cops in crises. Tonight, a rich businessman is being honored at a conference in Toronto. The team is on bodyguard duty for the guy and his wife. There's one flaw here: Jules (Amy Jo Johnson) makes a foolish error, the sort that seems unrealistic. And there's a huge plus: "Flashpoint" uses deeply talented Canadian actors. Colm Feore (who also plays the president's husband in this season's "24") and Wendy Crewson play the mogul and his wife.

TONIGHT'S MIGHT-SEE

"Stargate Atlantis" finale, 7 and 9 p.m., Sci Fi. This show's 100th (and final) episode is a shoot-em-up, with the Earth at risk. Todd the Wraith is back, warning of a weapons breakthrough that could endanger everyone. Suddenly, the Atlantis must defend its home planet. That requires some sturdy-hero stuff from Col. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan). It also requires the return of people such as Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Carson Beckett (Paul McGillion).

OF NOTE

"Bruce Almighty" (2003), 7 p.m., Fox. It's not easy being God, even temporarily, a regular guy learns in this fun film. Jim Carrey is OK in the lead, with a great supporting cast that includes Morgan Freeman (as God, of course), Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. Delia (Camryn Manheim) endures her first haunting. Also, Melinda tries to comfort a family.

"Howie Do It" debut, 7 p.m., NBC. Howie Mandel is in the rare position of having two NBC series. In addition to "Deal or No Deal," he puts on disguises for this hidden-camera show. In the opener, we see an extremely bad waiter, a clumsy dating show and a singing telegram at a funeral.

"Lipstick Jungle," 8 p.m., NBC. After lots of detours, Victory the designer is finally engaged to Joe the billionaire. The next problem: She can't get peace between him and her middle-of-the-road, Midwestern parents.

"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. A previous episode involved a teacher and her teen lover. Now the guy has escaped from prison and Don is in danger.

"Comedy Central Presents," 8 and 8:30 p.m., Comedy Central. The real fun, comes in the second half-hour, when Doug Benson brings an unusual delivery to some quick, sharp lines.
