Johnson's Kokua Festival will not return for 2009
Jack Johnson's Kokua Festival, which has become a staple entertainment event in Honolulu, will not return for what would have been its sixth consecutive year.
According to a statement released yesterday by the Kokua Foundation, the organizers of the festival "have decided to take a break."
The inaugural Kokua Festival, which first took place in 2003, features pop singer and North Shore resident Johnson as its headliner, as well as a long list of other performers both local and national.
Organizers have not said whether the festival will resume next year. Last year's Waikiki Shell shows on April 19-20 sold out in 20 minutes.
