High surf advisory issued for east-facing shores
Advertiser Staff
A high surf advisory has been declared for the east-facing shores of Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Maui and the Big Island, with swells of 6 to 9 feet expected through today.
The National Weather Service office in Honolulu said strong trade winds are generating an above-normal easterly wind swell. The surf will begin to subside tonight, the weather service said.
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
