If the economy has got you down, maybe it's time to remind yourself that sometimes good things do come free. Take the radio, for instance. You can get a free fix of local literature, theater and music on Cedric Yamanaka's "Aloha Shorts" radio program every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on KIPO FM 89.3.

But better yet, you could watch a taping live tomorrow at Hawai'i Public Radio's Atherton Performing Arts Studio.

Tomorrow's recording, focused on the economy, features Bamboo Ridge Press writers' musings on money matters, personal, communal, reflective and humorous.

Guest readers, including Michael Pa'ekukui and Donalyn Dela Cruz, will read pieces from Gary Pak, James H. Chun, Wing Tek Lum, Lois-Ann Yamanaka, Kathy J. Phillips, Lanning Lee, Tyler Miranda and Eric Chock.

The "Aloha Shorts" house band Hamajang will present a musical stimulus package at 6:45 p.m. and will offer a local version of "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?"

The readings begin at 7 p.m.

Almost all seats were filled at the last taping, so call 955-8821 for reservations or come early. The studio is at 738 Kaheka St.
