RENO, Nev. — Tyler Hansbrough missed the only shot he took the first 8 minutes against Nevada, but he took over after that to help keep top-ranked North Carolina undefeated.

Hansbrough finished with 22 points last night as the Tar Heels dispatched the Wolf Pack, 84-61, for their school-record 13th straight win by double figures.

"I was just waiting for the game to come to me," said Hansbrough, who made 7 of 13 from the field and 8 of 10 free throws. "I wasn't rushing. I wasn't trying to force anything."

Wayne Ellington added 15 points and Ty Lawson had 11 points and seven assists for North Carolina (13-0), which trailed early but put together a 10-1 run midway through the first half capped by Hansbrough's 3-pointer to take control of the game.

Freshman Luke Babbitt had 22 points, Armon Johnson 15 and Malik Cooke 13 for Nevada (7-6), which trailed 41-27 at the half and shot only 35 percent from the field on the game.

It marked the seventh straight 20-point game for Hansbrough, North Carolina's career scoring leader, who also had three rebounds to move past Brad Daugherty into a tie with Mitch Kupchak for fifth on the school career rebounding list with 1,006.

"The thing about North Carolina, they just keep coming at you," said Nevada coach Mark Fox. "They never let up. I just think we got a little tired."

Sam Young had 18 points and the visiting Panthers (13-0) used a 9-0 run for a 59-55 lead they never lost in beating the Scarlet Knights (9-5) in the Big East opener for both teams at Piscataway, N.J.

NO. 5 DUKE 92, LOYOLA, MD. 51

Showing no signs of an 11-day break, Kyle Singler scored 20 points and the Blue Devils (11-1) opened up a 30-12 lead and were never threatened in cruising past the Greyhounds (4-9) at Durham, N.C.

NO. 7 NOTRE DAME 92, DEPAUL 82

Luke Harangody had 26 points and 16 rebounds, Zach Hillesland added a career-high 17 points and the visiting Irish (10-2) took a 47-34 halftime lead in beating the Blue Demons (8-6) in the Big East opener for both at Rosemont, Ill.

NO. 10 MICHIGAN STATE 70, NO. 21 MINNESOTA 58

Kalin Lucas scored a career-high 24 points, Chris Allen added 13 and the Spartans (10-2) broke away from a 30-all tie with an 18-6 run to beat the Gophers (12-1) in a Big Ten opener at Minneapolis.

UTAH STATE 90, WYOMING 85

Jared Quayle scored 24 points, including four free throws in the final 35 seconds of overtime, to lift the Aggies (12-1) over the Cowboys (11-3) in the championship game of the Duel in the Desert at Logan, Utah and improve to 8-0 at home this season.

NO. 1 CONNECTICUT 78, HARTFORD 41

Renee Montgomery scored all of her 20 points in the first half, and Tina Charles had 17 points and nine rebounds as the visiting Huskies (12-0) rolled past the Hawks (5-7) at Hartford, Conn.

NO. 6 DUKE 66, PROVIDENCE 49

Chante Black scored 17 points, Abby Waner added 13, and the Blue Devils (11-1) pulled away from a 42-41 lead with a 28-4 second-half run to beat the Friars (6-6) at Providence, R.I.

NO. 17 OHIO STATE 68, NORTHWESTERN 59

Jantel Lavender had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Buckeyes (11-2, 2-0 Big Ten) over the Wildcats (4-10, 0-3), who got 24 points from Amy Jaeschke at Evanston, Ill.
