Fresno State stops Nevada, 68-66

FRESNO, Calif. — Sylvester Seay scored 28 points, including two free throws that capped a rare five-point play, as Fresno State held off Nevada, 68-66, last night in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Last-place Fresno State (12-17, 3-10) needed a missed 3-pointer at the buzzer by Luke Babbitt to seal the victory.

Nevada (16-11, 8-5) saw a three-game winning streak snapped and lost for the first time in eight tries against Fresno State.

LOUISIANA TECH 80, NEW MEXICO STATE 71

Magnum Rolle had 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Jamel Guyton had 18 points to lead the host Bulldogs (13-16, 5-9) past the Aggies (15-13, 8-6) for their third straight win.

SAN JOSE STATE 72, IDAHO 64

Justin Graham scored 17 points to lead four teammates in double figures as the host Spartans (12-14, 5-8 ) held off the Vandals (13-14, 6-7).

NO. 5 MEMPHIS 71, UAB 60

Doneal Mack and Antonio Anderson hit consecutive 3-pointers to trigger a game-ending 22-10 run as the visiting Tigers (25-3, 13-0) beat the Blazers (19-9, 9-4) to clinch their fourth consecutive Conference USA regular-season title.

NO. 21 WASHINGTON 73, NO. 14 ARIZONA STATE 70

John Brockman scored 21 points, including consecutive layups to start overtime for a 65-61 lead, and the host Huskies (21-7, 12-4 Pac-10) made 8 of 10 free throws the rest of the way to beat the Sun Devils (21-6, 10-5).

MICHIGAN 87, NO. 16 PURDUE 78

DeShawn Sims scored 29 points, Manny Harris added 27 and the host Wolverines (18-11, 8-8 Big Ten) pulled away from the Boilermakers (21-7, 10-5) in the second half.

Josh Heytvelt scored 29 points and the visiting Bulldogs (22-5, 13-0 West Coast Conference) broke from a 52-all tie with an 11-2 run to turn back the Broncos (14-16, 6-7).

James Johnson had 28 points and 18 rebounds, helping the host Demon Deacons (21-5, 8-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) turn back the Wolfpack (15-11, 5-8).

NO. 19 XAVIER 68, SAINT JOSEPH'S 54

Derrick Brown had 18 points and 10 rebounds and the visiting Musketeers (23-5, 11-3 Atlantic-10) pulled away from the Hawks (14-13, 7-6) over the last 4 minutes.

NO. 20 ILLINOIS 52, MINNESOTA 41

Mike Davis scored 14 points and Trent Meacham added 13 as the host Illini (23-6, 11-5 Big Ten) finished the game with a 14-2 run to beat the Golden Gophers (20-8, 8-8).

NO. 22 UCLA 76, STANFORD 71

Josh Shipp hit four 3-pointers while scoring 24 points, and the visiting Bruins (21-7, 10-5 Pac-10) held off the Cardinal (15-11, 4-11) despite making one field goal in the last 4 1/2 minutes.

Matt Howard had 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs (24-4, 14-3) beat the Penguins (11-17, 7-10) to clinch at least a share of their third straight Horizon League regular-season championship

Jantel Lavender had 21 points and 13 rebounds as the host Buckeyes (23-5, 14-3) blitzed the Badgers (16-13, 6-12) to clinch at least a share of their fifth straight Big Ten championship.

LSU 63, NO. 18 TENNESSEE 61

Katherine Graham made two free throws with 7.9 seconds left, helping the host Lady Tigers (16-9, 9-4 Southeastern Conference) hold off the Lady Vols (19-9, 8-5).

NO. 24 ARIZONA STATE 55, WASHINGTON 32

Danielle Orsillo scored 10 points and had three assists, and the host Sun Devils (21-6, 13-2 Pac-10) took an 28-8 lead in rolling past the Huskies (6-20, 2-14) for their 13th straight win.
