Money released for School St. on-ramp fixes

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $9 million for work on the H-1 Freeway School Street on-ramp.

The funds will replace a retaining wall at the on-ramp and stabilize a slope above the retaining wall.

The existing 10-foot high retaining wall at the on-ramp supports a 15-foot high sloping embankment.

The retaining wall has cracks in some places and appears to leaning toward the freeway.

Design work for the project is set to kick off next month. Construction will begin in August and wrap up in July 2010.
