Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala and his staff will hold a football fundamental skills camp starting Sunday and running each Sunday through March 22 at Kapi'olani Park No. 5.
The camp, which will teach fundamental skills, knowledge of the game and sportsmanship, is for youth ages 8 to 16.
Other staff members are Nate Ilaoa, West Keli'ikipi, Roy Ma'afala, Neil Rose, Brendyn Agbayani, Roy Hardy, Konti Pellegren and Peter Salavea.
Camp for ages 8 to 12 will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Camp for ages 13 to 16 will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

FIGHTING
BOXING, MIXED MARTIAL ARTS EVENT AT PALOLO
X1 World Events, featuring bouts in boxing and mixed martial arts, will hold an event Sunday at Palolo Hongwanji.
Mike Balasi will take on Bronson Pieper in one bout. There also will be a doubleheader featuring four top kickboxers in the 135-pound division — Peni Taufa'ao vs. Ryan Lee and Tyson Nam vs. Nui Wheeler.
Action starts at 5 p.m. with boxing at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 pre-sale, $40 at the door. VIP tickets are $50 pre-sale, $60 at the door.

SOCCER
SAND SOCCER TOURNEY AT DERUSSY ON SUNDAY
The second Hawaii Sand Soccer Championships will be held Sunday at DeRussy Beach and the Hale Koa Hotel.
Action starts at 7:30 a.m. and involves about 40 teams in various ages groups, coed and men's open. Championship matches will be around 5 p.m. For information: go to www.hawaiisandsoccer.com.

USTA 18 NATIONALS BEGIN PLAY AT CORP
Walker Kehrer, the ninth-ranked tennis player in the country at 18-under, is the top seed in the boys draw and 30th-ranked Brett Ellen Keeler is the top-seeded girl at the USTA Boys and Girls 18 National Open, which begins tomorrow at Central O'ahu Regional Park.
Matches begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday and Monday, and 9 a.m. for Tuesday's semifinals and Wednesday's finals. There is no admission charge.
Hawai'i is hosting one of four nationals, along with Tampa, Fla., Waco, Texas, and Cincinnati.
There are 18 Hawai'i players in the field. The 10 boys include James Lee, Larson Oliva, Matthew Westmoreland, Erik Pang and Logan Chun, all ranked in the top seven in Hawai'i. Among the eight girls are three-time state high school champion Kristin Lim, and Sayo Tsukamoto and Mari Tadaki, currently Nos. 3 and 4 in the state.
