CLEVELAND — Before packing for Phoenix, Mo Williams padded his All-Star stats.
Playing in his first home game since finally being made an All-Star after being skipped over twice, Williams scored a career-high 44 points and LeBron James added 26 as the Cleveland Cavaliers reached the break by winning their 40th game, 109-92 over the Phoenix Suns last night.
The Cavs, who believe they were wronged by a controversial call in the final seconds of a one-point loss at Indiana on Tuesday, bounced back from their first two-game slide this season with an impressive performance. They had their 23-game home winning streak stopped Sunday by the Los Angeles Lakers.
But with Williams going 18-of-26 from the floor, making seven 3-pointers and adding seven assists, Cleveland embarked on a new home streak while its point guard provided a final argument he should have been an Eastern Conference All-Star from the outset.
"We all believed he should have been there," James said. "I think that's part of the reason he played so well tonight, to let everybody know that he really belongs there."
The Cavaliers easily outran the speedy Suns, who were without starting point guard Steve Nash. He didn't dress to get extra rest for numerous sore spots.

76ers 91, Grizzlies 87: Andre Iguodala scored 18 points and made a left-handed toss over the outstretched arm of Marc Gasol for an 89-87 lead with 26 seconds left to lift host Philadelphia over Memphis for its fourth straight win.
Nuggets 82, Magic 73: Carmelo Anthony had 29 points and eight rebounds, Kenyon Martin added 13 points and Chauncey Billups had 11 as Denver won its first game in Orlando since March 10, 1992, a span of 15 games.
Hawks 99, Pistons 95: Joe Johnson scored 27 points, including two free throws for a 99-95 lead with 9.4 seconds left, and Flip Murray added 23 points, helping visiting Atlanta hold off Detroit, which will take a three-game losing streak into the break.
Bucks 122, Pacers 110: Richard Jefferson scored 22 of his 32 points in the second half and Ramon Sessions added 15 points and 17 assists, helping Milwaukee, playing without three injured starters, hand Indiana its ninth straight loss on the road.

Jazz 113, Lakers 109: Deron Williams had 31 points and 11 assists, and made 3-of-6 free throws in the last 25 seconds after Mehmet Okur hit a 3-pointer for a 110-107 lead as host Utah ended Los Angeles' seven-game winning streak.
