Kaua'i police today arrested a 20-year-old Wailua man in connection with a Jan. 18 incident in which a truck being driven on a Wailua beach ran over and injured a sunbather.

The incident happened on a beach known as Kitchens near Lydgate Beach Park.

Police arrested Kawai Watanabe and charged him with second-degree negligent injury and reckless driving. He was released on bail, according to a Kaua'i County news release.

Jacqueline Bigno, 38, was sunbathing when a Nissan pickup truck with oversize tires ran over her. She suffered a broken shoulder blade and spent four days in hospitals on Kaua'i and Honolulu before being discharged.
