High surf advisory issued for Niihau to Maui

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the north- and west-facing shores of Niihau and Kauai and the north-facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui.
The surf is expected to rise rapidly to 12 to 16 feet today, the Weather Service said.
The advisory is expected to remain in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.
