LAS VEGAS — Jacinta Monroe scored 18 points and Alexa Deluzio added 17 to help No. 12 Florida State bounce back from its first loss of the season and beat Hawai'i, 83-39, last night.

Florida State (11-1) won the third-place game of the Duel in the Desert tournament after losing to DePaul on Sunday night.

Deluzio made all four of her 3-pointers and the Seminoles shot 10 for 15 from long range.

Breanna Arbuckle led Hawai'i (4-7) with nine points and nine rebounds.

Florida State's Alysha Harvin added 12 points and two blocked shots while Courtney Ward had 11 assists for the Seminoles.

The Seminoles held the Rainbow Wahine scoreless for the first six and a half minutes of the second half. Allie Patterson's jumper ended the drought with 13:31 to play, but Florida State was still up 50-26.

Florida State outrebounded the Rainbows 50-36.

Former Rainbow Wahine Maj Forsberg was one of the game's referees.

NO. 8 Duke 75, Maine 34: Karima Christmas and Bridgette Mitchell each scored 16 points and Duke cruised past host Maine. Duke's full-court trap forced a season-high 34 turnovers and held Maine (2-7) to 30 percent shooting. The Blue Devils (9-2) pulled away with a 24-4 run in the first half.

No. 16 Michigan State 67, St. Bona-venture 59: Allyssa DeHaan scored 18 points and the Spartans handed visiting St. Bonaventure (11-1) its first loss. Kalisha Keane and Lauren Aitch each scored 11 for Michigan State (9-3). DeHaan also had nine rebounds.

No. 25 James Madison 85, Longwood 67: Dawn Evans scored 32 points and had six assists for host James Madison (8-1) Brittani Billups led the Lancers (4-9) with 17 points.

DIVISION II WOMEN

HAWAI'I PACIFIC 70, HAWAI'I-HILO 35: Genesis Lewis scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Sea Warriors (4-3) past the host Vulcans (3-8). Hina Kimitete led UH-Hilo with 14 points.

TOP 25 MEN

No. 3 Kentucky 88, Drexel 44: DeMarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson scored 18 points apiece and Kentucky became the first team in NCAA history to reach the 2,000-win plateau with a romp over Drexel (6-6).

Kentucky (12-0) improved to 2,000-635-1 in 107 seasons. North Carolina is next on the list with 1,992 wins while Kansas has 1,980.

The host Wildcats did it in style, taking control early behind the play of Cousins, Patterson and superstar freshman John Wall. Wall finished with 16 points and seven assists.

Samme Givens led Drexel with 11 points.

No. 12 Kansas St. 90, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 76: Jacob Pullen had 18 points and host Kansas State (11-1) responded to its highest ranking in 36 years with a victory over winless Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-10).

WAC MEN

Utah State 79, Morehead State 72: Nate Bendall and Tai Wesley each scored 18 points to lead Utah State past Morehead State. Tyler Newbold scored 15 for the Aggies (7-4). The win came in the opening round of the three-day Basketball Travelers Invitational, hosted by Utah State. Morehead State (4-5) was led by Steve Peterson, who scored a career-high 16 points.

Montana 59, Fresno State 56: Anthony Johnson sank a foul-line jumper with 6 seconds left as host Montana (9-4) escaped with a victory over Fresno State (6-6). Fresno State's Steven Shepp missed a deep 3-pointer for the tie at the buzzer. Paul George of the Bulldogs led all scorers with 28 points.

New Mexico State 97, Alcorn State 72: New Mexico State guard Jahmar Young scored 22 points to become the 26th player in school history to reach 1,000 points in a victory over visiting Alcorn State (0-12). New Mexico State (5-6) got 22 points from Jonathan Gibson.

Northern Colorado 93, San Jose State 69: Will Figures and Devon Beitzel scored 24 points each, leading host Northern Colorado (10-3). Adrian Oliver led San Jose State (5-5) with 26 points.

Boise State 69, Portland State 62: Ike Okoye scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead host Boise State (7-4) in a victory over Portland State (5-7).
