Hawaii Biotech board members fend off ouster attempt

Advertiser Staff

An Australian company that tried to oust two board members at Hawaii Biotech Inc. has found the table turned on it.

Acuvax Ltd., a Brisbane, Australia company that owns 28 percent of Hawaii Biotech, had sought removal of the two directors. Acuvax said their removal would help the local company more aggressively pursue commercialization of its vaccine technologies.
The directors met today to consider Acuvax’s proposal to remove of Hawaii Biotech President Elliot Parks from the board along with fellow director Debra Guerin Bersini.
But instead of doing so the directors voted to remove Acuvax Chief Executive Officer William Ardrey from the board.
Ardrey was replaced by Richard Sherman, a former Hawaii Biotech director.
