A salvage company tomorrow morning will attempt to remove a 55-foot fishing boat that ran aground this morning at Kewalo Basin.

The Logan ran aground about 25 yards offshore in the Point Panic area, said Deborah Ward, spokeswoman for the Department of Land and Natural Resources. The Logan’s owner said he had just unloaded his catch at Pier 38 and was returning to Kewalo Basin when the grounding occurred.
As the vessel was coming into the harbor, the owner said it developed rudder problems and he was unable to steer the boat, Ward said. DLNR, the Coast Guard and other officials were sent to monitor the situation.
About 600 gallons of diesel fuel were removed from the vessel this afternoon.
Ward said the owner has hired a salvage company and will attempt to remove the vessel at high tide tomorrow, which is at 4:55 a.m.
