Waimanalo boy, 16, in critical condition after one-car crash

A 16-year-old Waimanalo boy is in The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition after a car hit a tree and utility pole early this morning in Waimanalo.
A 1998 Honda Accord driven by a 16-year-old Waimanalo girl was heading north on Hihimanu Street at 1:04 a.m. when it hit a utility pole and a large tree, police said.
The boy was in the rear seat and was thrown from the car.
The driver a front seat passenger were taken to Queen's in good condition.
Police said speed and alcohol appear to be factors.
