THEY DANCE, THEY FIGHT, THEY SING
Philadelphia-based riotous punk rock and rollers The A.K.A.s hit Honolulu for the first time this weekend for two shows. The band, fresh off this summer's Warped Tour, does what it calls "dancehall fight music" — punk rock politics meets anthem rock, with a solid bent for catchy hooks. Think the Dead Kennedys plus MC5 plus the B-52s.
The five-piece riff-rock outfit recently added Honolulu's own Michael Camino to the group. Camino was the founder and bassist of popular local psychobilly band The Hell Caminos.
This will be Camino's first hometown performance since joining the A.K.A.s last year.
