'Stop Flu at School' campaign kicks off with free immunization to be offered

State school and health officials are hoping to thwart the seasonal flu bug by immunizing as many as many school kids as soon as possible.
The third annual “Stop Flu at School” campaign was launched yesterday in a ceremony at the Governor’s Office.
Beginning Oct. 13, free immunization via shots or nasal spray or or nasal spray immunization will be offered, with parental consent, to Hawaii elementary and middle school students ages 5 to 13.
Information packets and consent forms are being sent out this week and must be returned no later than Sept. 11.
The program is being offed in public, private and charter schools.
