NBA: Nuggets re-sign backup center Johan Petro

DENVER — Reserve center Johan Petro has resigned with the Denver Nuggets.
Petro appeared in 27 games for Denver last season, starting 10 times and averaging 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds. He also appeared in 10 playoff of the Nuggets’ playoff games as they reached the Western Conference finals.
Petro has career averages of 5.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 270 games with the Nuggets and Oklahoma City/Seattle franchise. He was traded to the Nuggets from the Thunder on Jan. 7 for guard Chucky Atkins in a deal that also involved draft picks.
