Sand Island clean-up mixes work and play

Advertiser Staff

On Sunday, Honolulu residents can learn about stand-up paddling and do some community service at the same time during the Surfrider Foundation Oahu Chapter’s cleanup at Sand Island, both in the part and in the water.

From 10 a.m. to noon, Everpaddle will provide demo stand-up paddle boards for use in removing debris offshore and to conduct water testing in the area.
Volunteers are encouraged to recycle old plastic bags, bring reusable water botles and bring along their “watercraft” of choice for cleaning up the marine debris.
Sunetric Company will provide lunch and solar-powered live music.
The event is part of the Rise Above Plastics campaign. To learn more, visit www.riseaboveplastics.org.
