Roethlisberger, Chris Kemoeatu sit out Redskins game with injury

Associated Press

LANDOVER, Md. — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sat out tonight's game against the Washington Redskins after injuring his Achilles' tendon in practice.

Roethlisberger was hurt Thursday when left tackle Max Starks stepped on the quarterback's foot. Roethlisberger was able to travel with the team to Washington.

"Yeah, he's fine. Well, not fine," coach Mike Tomlin said after the game. "Of course, if he was fine, he would've played. But we don't think it's going to be a long-term thing at all."

Charlie Batch started in Roethlisberger's place and went 5 for 14 for 63 yards in Washington's 17-13 victory.
Left guard Chris Kemoeatu, a Kahuku High alum, also missed the game with a rib injury.
