Little League: Jones leads Georgia to 6-3 win over New York

Associated Press

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Justin Jones homered for the second straight day and fired a three-hitter, leading Warner Robins, Ga., to a 6-3 victory Saturday over Staten Island, N.Y., at the Little League World Series.

Spencer Sato also homered for the second consecutive game, giving Georgia a 2-0 lead in the first. Jones added his two-run blast to center in the second to go up 4-0 before taking control on the mound. He struck out five.

Now 2-0, Georgia is in good shape to advance to the next round. The team comes from the same Warner Robins league that won the World Series two years ago.

Michael Russell doubled to center in the second and later scored on a passed ball for New York's only run until Vincent Quinn's two-run shot in the sixth.
