Nine teams of architects, design and engineering professionals will be at Pearlridge Center for �Canstruction,� a food drive, a statehood celebration and a sculpture competition rolled into one.

This event is themed �Celebrating 50 Years of Statehood: Hawaii Then and Now!� A People�s Choice Award winner will be decided by the public, who get one vote for every can of food donated.
The teams will build today from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the mall�s Uptown Center Court and votes will be taken through Aug. 29. On Aug. 30, the sculptures will be dismantled and donated to the Hawaii Foodbank. AIAHonolulu.org.
