Police have charged a Waikiki man who they said forced a woman into prostitution with kidnapping, assault, promoting prostitution, extortion and other counts.
Charles Cocklin Jr. of a Kuhio Ave. address was charged Friday and was being held on $250,000 bail.
Police say Cocklin, who was arrested Friday, met a 26-year-old woman through an internet social site and forced her into prostitution in Waikiki for two months in May and June.
The police report says that on one occasion he assaulted her and broke her jaw.
Cocklin then met a 30-year-old woman and tried to force her into prostitution as well, police said. After he threatened the woman and attempted to extort money from her, she reported him to police. After an investigation, the 26-year-old woman was also located. Police then arrested and charged Cocklin.
