Volunteers from the group Kanu Hawaii, which stresses sustainability in the Islands, were at the state Capitol this morning for what they called a day of service and a statement.

The volunteers performed two free services for legislators and anyone parked in the Capitol's lot.

First, they switched out incandescent light builbs for energy-efficient ones.

Then, they checked the tire pressure of every car in the lot and left a written report.

Later in the day, the Blue Planet Foundation held its Clean Energy Rally at the state Capitol to urge legislators to adopt a "no fossil fuel" approach.

As part of the rally, entertainer Henry Kapono was scheduled to perform with a sound system powered entirely by the sun.
