Rainbow Wahine finish last

Senior Carolina Perez and junior Corie Hou tied for 21st, but Hawai'i still finished last at the Western Athletic Conference Championship yesterday at Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno, Nev.

The Rainbow Wahine closed with a round of 313. Their 940 total left them seventh in the seven-team field.

San Jose State shot 296—870 to win its third WAC title. Spartan junior Erica Moston won medalist honors, climbing from third to first with a 2-under-par 70. At 214, she was the only golfer to break par over three days.

Moston was named WAC Player of the Year for the second straight year.

Hou shot a final-round 74 and Perez 78 to finish at 14-over 230. Hou earned a place on the All-WAC second team. She led the the Rainbow Wahine in six of eight tournaments and had a team-best scoring average of 75.9.

UH senior Phyllis Lai (78—236) tied for 29th and junior Erin Matsuoka (83—244) finish 32nd.
