Showers pelt Maui, Oahu

Scattered heavy showers fell on O'ahu and Maui County last night, prompting the National Weather Service to issue flood advisories for those areas.

The flood advisory for O'ahu was issued at 9:55 p.m. and was in effect until at least 1 a.m. The advisory for Maui County was through at least 11:30 p.m.

Radar showed a nearly stationary area of moderate to heavy rain from Waikane to Kailua, Waimanalo and near Hawai'i Kai.

For the six-hour period ending at 8 p.m. yesterday, the Olomana rain gauge had 3.17 inches, Waimanalo 2.68 inches, 'Ahuimanu Loop 2.19 inches and Hawai'i Kai Golf Course 0.99 inches.
