Rainfall records set yesterday in Lihue, Kahului

A pair of daily rainfall records were set on Monday in Hawaii, the National Weather Service said.
A slow-moving front brought moisture and instability to the islands yesterday, and the accompanying rainfall set records for the date in Lihue on Kauai and Kahului on Maui.
Some 0.65 inches of rain was recorded in Kahului, breaking the old record for Jan. 20 of 0.53 inches, which was set in 1989.
A total of 1.15 inches of rain was recorded in Lihue, breaking the old record for Jan. 20 of 0.56 inches, which was set on 2002.
