A Nanakuli man in his mid-30s and his 3-year-old son were injured this morning when a car the man was working on apparently lurched backward, striking him and the boy.

Bryan Cheplic,spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, were sent to a home on Maaloa Street at 8:32 a.m. and found the injured man and boy.

The two were taken to an Oahu trauma center, with the man listed in serious condition and the boy in stable condition.
