National Geographic Traveler magazine has selected The Inn at Mama's Fish House to the magazine's second annual Stay List of "Hotels We Love" in this month's issue. The list includes 129 properties in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean that balance service, sustainability and community involvement with a strong sense of place.
Opened in 1996, the Maui inn consists of 12 cottages in a coconut grove along Ku'au Cove. The Polynesian decor was inspired by the owner's sailing adventures through the South Pacific in the late 1950s, and features woodwork by local craftsmen and artwork from island artists. Adjacent is the family-run Mama's Fish House Restaurant, regarded among the best seafood restaurants in the world. 808-579-9764, www.mamasfishhouse.com.
