Arakaki to lead 'Iolani baseball

Advertiser Staff

Jason Arakaki has been named 'Iolani School's varsity baseball coach for the 2010 season. He will replace Dean Yonamine, who earlier announced his retirement following the current season.

Arakaki has been head coach for the school's junior varsity baseball team since 2001.

A 1987 'Iolani graduate, Arakaki was a pitcher on the school's 1986 state championship and 1987 ILH championship teams. Since 1990, he has coached baseball at 'Iolani at the intermediate, junior varsity and varsity levels.

"I'm very honored to be given the opportunity to carry on the tradition of 'Iolani baseball," Arakaki said. " 'Iolani baseball has been a big part of my life."
