UH-Hilo starts adding solar power

The University of Hawai'i-Hilo has turned on the first in a series of photovoltaic panels to promote energy efficiency.
The solar panels are on the building that houses the school's Kipuka Native Hawaiian Student Center.
The panels generate approximately 10.15 kilowatts of energy.
Gail Makuakane-Lundin, Kipuka director, secured funding for the project from the U.S. Department of Education.
The panels were purchased several years ago, but the project was delayed while details of an interconnectivity agreement between the university and Hawaii Electric Light Co. were worked out.
HAWAIIAN AIRLINES BUSIER IN MARCH
Hawaiian Airlines said its passenger count rose 17.7 percent in March from the same month a year earlier.The state's largest carrier said it flew 716,320 passengers last month, up from 608,828 in March 2008.
Hawaiian, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings Inc., said 84.6 percent of its seats were full in March, down from 87.7 percent a year earlier.
PIANO OUTLET A YAMAHA RETAILER
Pearl City-based Piano Outlet has been selected as Hawai'i's only authorized Yamaha piano retailer.Piano Outlet, a division of Sanders Piano, is in the Pearl Highlands Shopping Center above Sam's Club. Sanders Piano is a family-owned company that began in 1954.
Piano Outlet offers a full range of Yamaha acoustic pianos and digital keyboards, according to a news release from the company.
Sanders Piano and Piano Outlet also offer sheet music, software, accessories and piano lessons.
BISHOP STREET BOND FUND SALUTED
The Bishop Street Hawaii Municipal Bond Fund has received the 2009 Lipper Fund Award as the best fund over 10 years in its category."This award is an honor and recognition of Bishop Street Capital Management's investment management performance in the municipal bond arena," said Michael K. Hirai, president and chief investment officer of the company, the investment management subsidiary of First Hawaiian Bank.
The Lipper Fund Award is given to top performing funds in delivering consistently strong risk adjusted performance, relative to its peers.
