Hawaii weather: Breezy with some rain today

A high pressure area remains north of the islands, fueling breezy trade winds that will linger in the forecast into the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Showers carried in on the trades will be concentrated over the windward and mauka areas, forecasters said.

High clouds over the islands will continue through the end of the week and bring precipitation to the Big Island summits.

Here's a closer look at where things stand as we head toward the weekend:

Today: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Breezy, with a east wind between 18 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. East wind between 16 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind between 10 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
