Horse racing: Churchill Downs receives NTRA accreditation

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Churchill Downs has become the first thoroughbred track in the country to become fully accredited by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Safety & Integrity Alliance.
Churchill and the NTRA made the announcement Thursday at the track in Louisville.
Inspectors had been at the track since Monday checking everything from the starting gate to the testing barn.
The track hoped to be accredited by next month's Kentucky Derby.
The alliance is part of an initiative to give racing a national set of ground rules.
