Odd: Team hosts 'Octomom Night' at ballpark

Associated Press

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — Games like "Guess How Many Buns Are in My EZ Bake Oven" will be among the featured events when minor-league baseball's Grand Prairie AirHogs host "Octomom Night."

In honor of the Suleman octuplets in California, the independent league club said Wednesday it will also have a Diaper Derby and a stroller race the night of the June 13 game.

Groups of eight or more will be offered half-price admission and if the AirHogs score eight or more runs during the game, every fan will get a ticket to another game.

In another promotion, the suburban Dallas team lampoons AIG executives.

For "AIG Bailout Night," the club is taking a tongue-in-cheek swipe at AIG by referencing it as the AirHogs Investment Group. On June 16, 20 fans will be selected to chase 1,000 $1 bills that will be spread across center field.

Other stunts this season include a Jonas Brothers ticket giveaway night featuring a look-alike contest for members of the boy band and a "Salute To Twinkies Night" in honor of the IBC headquarters moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The AirHogs debuted last season, making a name for themselves off the field with their "Funeral Giveaway" and "A-Rod/Madonna Night" promotions, and on the field by reaching the championship series of the American Association. Former Texas Rangers slugger Pete Incaviglia is the manager.
