IRVING, Texas — Jim Zorn will go down in history as the only Washington Redskins coach never to lose a regular-season game at Texas Stadium.

Better yet, the Redskins are going into October as a legitimate contender in the NFC East.

Jason Campbell threw two touchdown passes and Clinton Portis ran for 121 yards, leading Washington to a 26-24 victory yesterday that gave the Dallas Cowboys their first loss and made the toughest division in the NFL even more interesting.

The Redskins came in with consecutive wins since a lousy performance in the opener, but there were still questions about how good they were. Going on the road to beat one of the most talented teams in football certainly improves their perception. For now, at least, Washington has turned the NFC East into a four-team race.

"It feels good watching our players take these strides," Zorn said. "The football team believes in what we're doing and that feels good."

A few weeks ago, there was doubt whether Zorn was the right guy to replace Joe Gibbs. Now, he's off to a great start, including being 1-0 against Washington's biggest rival and ending a 1-for-12 skid at Texas Stadium. With Dallas moving to a new stadium next season, the only way he'll coach here again is if it's in the playoffs.

"I've always said this is going to be a process," Zorn said. "We have to maintain our composure after this win, too. We're not going to the Super Bowl next week."

Campbell was 20 of 31 for 231 yards, Santana Moss caught eight passes for 145 yards and the Redskins made it four straight games without a turnover on offense.

"The reality of it is, you have the opportunity to go 16-0 every year in the regular season, but that's not realistic," said Dallas quarterback Tony Romo, 1-3 against Washington and 22-6 against everyone else.

JETS 56, CARDINALS 35

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Brett Favre threw a career-high and Jets-record six touchdown passes, three to Laveranues Coles, and New York (2-2) took advantage of mistakes by Arizona (2-2). New York's defense forced three fumbles and two interceptions in the first half and the Jets set a franchise record by scoring 34 points in the second quarter. Favre, showing no signs of a left ankle injury that hobbled him during the week, finished 24 for 34 for 289 yards. Arizona's Kurt Warner was 40 of 57 for 472 yards.

BILLS 31, RAMS 14

ST. LOUIS — For the first time in 16 years, the Bills are 4-0. Jabari Greer's 33-yard interception return on the first play of the fourth quarter was the go-ahead score in an 18-point fourth-quarter salvo. The Bills' first defensive score of the year — also Greer's first career touchdown — came off an overthrown pass by Trent Green on second-and-12. St. Louis (0-4) lost for the 17th time in the last 20 games.

CHARGERS 28, RAIDERS 18

OAKLAND, Calif. — Another blown fourth-quarter lead for Oakland led to yet another San Diego (2-2) win over the Raiders. Darren Sproles' long kickoff return set up Nate Kaeding's go-ahead 47-yard field goal with 1:51 to play and LaDainian Tomlinson sealed the Chargers' 10th straight win over their AFC West rivals with a 41-yard TD run. Oakland (1-3) blew a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter last week against Buffalo, and a 12-point lead against San Diego.

CHIEFS 33, BRONCOS 19

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Larry Johnson ran for 198 yards and two touchdowns and Kansas City (1-3) took advantage of four Denver (3-1) turnovers. It was the first win for Kansas City since Oct. 21, 2007, a club-record 12 straight losses. Nick Novak kicked three field goals for the Chiefs, who did not seem to be out of danger until Tony Gonzalez snared a 10-yard touchdown pass with 12:40 to go.

TITANS 30, VIKINGS 17

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Rookie Chris Johnson scored two touchdowns and the defense forced four turnovers that Tennessee turned into 21 points. The Titans improved to 4-0 for the first time in franchise history. Not even dating back to their AFL start in Houston as the Oilers had this team started a season so well. In their 10th season as the relocated Titans, they also have won an NFL-best seven straight regular-season games. Minnesota (1-3) outgained Tennessee 333-275.

BUCCANEERS 30, PACKERS 21

TAMPA, Fla. — Derrick Brooks had one of three interceptions of Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers and also forced a fumble that Jermaine Phillips returned 38 yards for a Buccaneers (3-1) touchdown. Rodgers threw two touchdowns to Greg Jennings but was sacked three times and left for one series with a shoulder injury midway through the fourth quarter. Rodgers returned briefly after Green Bay (2-2) fell behind 23-21 on Matt Bryant's third field goal.

SAINTS 31, 49ERS 17

NEW ORLEANS — Drew Brees was 23 of 35 for 363 yards and three scores as New Orleans (2-2) beat San Francisco (2-2). J.T. O'Sullivan was 18 of 36 for 257 yards, but continued to take too many sacks for the 49ers. Sacked 13 times through the Niners' first three games, O'Sullivan was brought down six more times, twice by Charles Grant.

PANTHERS 24, FALCONS 9

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Steve Smith broke two tackles and raced 56 yards for a touchdown, then did perhaps his most important work. Nearly two months after he broke teammate Ken Lucas' nose with a sucker punch in training camp, Smith retrieved the ball and handed it to Lucas on the sideline. Jake Delhomme was 20 of 29 for 294 yards, and Smith and Muhsin Muhammad combined for 243 yards receiving and two scores as Carolina (3-1) kept Atlanta (2-2) winless on the road.

JAGUARS 30, TEXANS 27

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Josh Scobee won a second straight game for Jacksonville (2-2). Scobee's 37-yard field goal in overtime beat Houston (0-3). Scobee hit a 51-yarder with 4 seconds remaining last week to beat Indianapolis, 23-21. David Garrard completed a 24-yard pass to Matt Jones on third down to get to the Houston 41, then found Greg Jones in the flat for 22 more yards.

BROWNS 20, BENGALS 12

CINCINNATI — Derek Anderson threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Braylon Edwards that put Cleveland (1-3) ahead to stay in the fourth quarter against Cincinnati (0-4). Anderson went 15 of 24 for 138 yards with a touchdown and an interception, keeping Brady Quinn on the sideline. Ryan Fitzpatrick started for Cincinnati at quarterback in place of Carson Palmer, who rested a sore passing elbow.

BEARS 24, EAGLES 20

Chicago — Alex Brown stopped Correll Buckhalter at the goal line late in the game, and host Chicago (2-2) hung on to beat Philadelphia (2-2). The Eagles threatened to take the lead after a 41-yard field goal by Robbie Gould made it a four-point game with 10:28 remaining, launching a 75-yard drive that took nearly seven minutes. Problem was they needed 76.
