Kakaako man accused of 2 armed robberies

Prosecutors yesterday charged a Kaka'ako man with two armed robberies.

Gabriel Preston, 33, of a Kamaile Street address is accused of robberies of retail stores which occurred on Aug. 18 and Sept. 11. A knife was displayed in both robbers. Preston is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail pending his initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.

Preston was identified as a suspect on Aug. 23 after a warrant was obtained to search his vehicle. Police allegedly found a knife that matches the description of the one used in the Aug. 18 robbery and also drugs and paraphernalia.

In addition to the armed robberies, Preston was also charged with third-degree promoting of a dangerous drug, third-degree promoting of a detrimental drug, and possessing drug paraphernalia.
