Team Bradley won the Na Wahine O Ke Kai women's canoe race for the fourth consecutive year in record time today.

Team Bradley — which has paddlers from O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui, the Big Island and Australia — completed the 41-mile course from Hale O Lono Harbor, Moloka'i, to Duke Kahanamoku Beach, Waikiki, in 5 hours, 22 minutes, 5 seconds.

It beat the previous record by seven seconds. The old mark was set by Mooloolaba of Australia in 2004.

"I never tought we'd get a chance at the record, but we did it," team captain Noelani Auger said. "That makes this one really sweet."

Members of the Team Bradley crew were Cherisse Agorastos, Auger, Lauren Bartlett, Theresa Felgate, Kelly Fey, Margie Kawaiaea, Mahealani Lum-Batlik, Andrea Moller, Dane Ward and Shelley Wilding-Oates.

All 10 paddlers returned from last year's championship crew that came up two seconds short of the course record.

"We were so close to the record last year, so to come back and get it is really nice," Ward said.

Hui Lanakila placed second in 5:27:09, and Waikiki Beach Boys was third in 5:32:39.

The Outrigger Canoe Club's masters crew placed fourth overall in 5:34:43. All paddlers in the crew were 40 or older.

Newport Aquatic Center of California was fifth overall and first non-Hawai'i team in 5:37:49.

A total of 67 women's crews participated in the race. It is considered the world championship of long-distance outrigger canoe paddling for women's teams.
