Traffic through Kamehameha Highway in the Laie area was reopened at about 7 a.m., Honolulu police dispatch said.

A single-car accident occurred around 2:36 a.m. at 55-573 Kamehameha Highway near the entrance to the Mormon church.

A passenger believed to be a man in his late teens was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.

The accident caused police to divert traffic traveling in both directions to side streets in the area.
