at Marks Garage tomorrow night
The Lizard Loft, one of the few small-scale performance venues in Honolulu, is in danger of losing its home in Marks Garage.
The production company has supported theater, music, dance groups, film, comic acts and individual projects for 14 years, the past seven at Marks Garage.
The nonprofit is hosting a Save the Lizard benefit tomorrow night with a variety of performers, including improvisational comedy troupe On the Spot and the Cherry Blossom Cabaret.
The event runs from 8 to 10 p.m. at The ARTS at Marks Garage. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at
the door. For ticket sales and more information, go to lizard-loft.ticketleap.com.
at Kahala Mall this weekend
If you're worried that a trip to the new Whole Foods Market in Kahala might drain your wallet, ease your conscience by pairing the trip with free entertainment the natural and organic food supermarket is sponsoring in the mall this weekend.
As part of Kahala Mall's Shop With Aloha event, Center Court will be the stage for a Makana concert at 1 p.m. tomorrow and a Peter Apo & the Rainbow Nation Band concert at 1:30 p.m Sunday. At the theaters, there'll be free screenings of "The Hawaiians: Reflecting Spirit" at 3:30 and 5:15 p.m., with a Q-and-A session with filmmaker Edgy Lee, pictured, at 4:30 p.m.

Ever wonder what happened to surfer Eddie Aikau when he swam out to help the capsized Hokule'a voyaging canoe? In "Eddie Wen' Go: The Story of the Upside-Down Canoe," author Marion Lyman-Mersereau imagines what sea creatures saw on that fateful day in March 1978 when Aikau went missing at sea.
Lyman-Mersereau was a crew member on that journey, as well as another in 1980.
Tomorrow, she will gather three other former Hokule'a crew members to read from her children's book at the Kahala sportswear store in the Nordstrom wing of Ala Moana Center. Joining the author are Mel Kinney, Ka'au McKenney and Tai Crouch.
The reading starts at 2 p.m.
at The O Lounge tomorrow
If Mom and Dad want to disco, maybe baby does, too.
Baby Loves Disco, a monthly afternoon dance party at The O Lounge, will give the whole family an excuse to get out on the dance floor.
The event gives an option to parents who aren't yet ready to give up clubbing but want to spend weekend afternoons with their kids. With a live DJ and a spinning disco ball, it's easy to get into the groove, or for those who want to kick back, there's healthy snacks all around and lots of entertainment for the kids.
The event is from 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow at 1349 Kapi'olani Blvd.
Admission is $12 and required for all "walking humans"; nonwalkers are free. If tickets do not sell out in advance, there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door, payable by cash only. Information: www.babylovesdisco.com.
Want to show your aloha for Hawai'i soldiers?
Drop off a local treat at Windward Mall's Aloha Holiday Care Package Collection Drive Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Center Court.
While you're there, you can check out performances from the Jim Hubbard Band, Anthony Ryan and the Ridgecrest Wranglers and the Colgate County finalists.
The event is sponsored by Operation Homefront, which plans to send packages of Kona coffee, mochi crunch, macadamia nuts, crack seed, cuttlefish and Hawai'i logo items to deployed soldiers for the holidays.
