Homeless center gets appliances
Advertiser Staff
The Maui County Department of Water Supply is donating 84 high-efficiency toilets and two waterless urinals to the Ka Hale a Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center to help reduce water usage in central Maui.
The toilets use only 1.28 gallons of water per flush compared with 3.5 gallons needed by the center's existing toilets.
The toilets cost $20,600 and will be installed by the center's maintenance staff. The water department also donated 276 low-flow showerheads and 348 faucet aerators to Ka Hale a Ke Ola and Hale Makana O Waiale, a housing facility next door.
The nonprofit homeless resource center provides services to approximately 300 people.
