The man was identified as Gambrall Thurston, 57. His body was brought to shore at 5:27 p.m. Police have tentatively classified the case as an unattended death.

In another case, the ME determined a 23-year-old man died from asphyxia due to accidental drowning yesterday at Malaekahana Beach Park in Kahuku. The body was recovered following a four-hour search at 4 p.m.

The man's name was not released pending notification of next of kin in China.
