The Honolulu Symphony Associates series "Meet the Musicians" features Honolulu Symphony principal oboe J. Scott Janusch on Monday.
Janusch will preview highlights from fall concerts, and discuss his role as principal oboe of the orchestra, leaving time for questions from the audience. He is a featured soloist in Richard Strauss' Oboe Concerto in D Major, part of the Honolulu Symphony's Halekulani MasterWorks performances of the "All-Strauss Experience," Nov. 8 and 9.
Janusch has performed as principal oboe with the San Antonio Symphony, San Diego Symphony and Santa Barbara Symphony. He has been featured as a soloist with the Honolulu Symphony, performing the Mozart Oboe Concerto in 1990 and 2002, and the Vivaldi D Minor Concerto in 1999.
Janusch performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl and participated in the Maui Chamber Music Festival, Colorado Music Festival, La Jolla Chamber Music Festival, and Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont. He has also performed in musical ensembles in Jamaica and Mexico.
The series features Jonathan Parrish, french horn, on Dec. 1.
A pair of tickets to a symphony concert will be given away at each "Meet the Musicians" event.
