The Pac-10 has made an impression on two Hawai'i recruits.

Baldwin High defensive end Mana Rosa said he has verbally committed to play football at Oregon State.

Also, Kapolei offensive tackle Stan Hasiak IV said he will play for UCLA.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Rosa chose the Beavers over offers from Hawai'i, Utah and UNLV.

"I went up there for a camp over the summer," Rosa said. "I like it. It was cool. I enjoyed it up there."

Rosa said the Beavers made an offer over the weekend. He said he will take the official recruiting visit in either November or December.

Two weeks ago, he made an official visit to UNLV, where former Baldwin coach Jimmy Morimoto is assistant recruiting coordinator. Punahou graduate Keith Uperesa also is an assistant at UNLV. Despite the Hawai'i ties, Rosa said he had his mind made up.

"I was planning on going to a Pac-10 school," he said.

Oregon State also has some coaches with ties to Hawai'i. Offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh coached at UH from 1999 to 2004 and defensive line coach Joe Seumalo is a Radford High and UH alumnus.

The 6-6, 330-pound Hasiak visited UCLA the weekend of Oct. 18, when the Bruins hosted and defeated Stanford, 23-20, at the Rose Bowl.

"I liked the opportunity, the possibility of starting as a freshman," Hasiak said.

However, Hasiak said he still plans on taking recruiting trips to California (Nov. 21 to 23), Southern California and Oregon State.

"It's a verbal," Hasiak said of his UCLA commitment. "I do want to go (to UCLA), but just in case there's something at the other schools that I like. I can take the trips, so I may as well go meet coaches."

Signing day is Feb. 4.
